چکیده

The concept of activity-based models was introduced as an alternative to existing trip-based and tour-based models a few decades ago. Potentially, activity-based models are able to predict individuals’ secondary responses, i.e. rescheduling of activities, as well as primary responses to changes in transport and land-use systems. In addition, the models are sensitive to changes affecting the time budgets of people. Little is known about the extent to which activity-based models come up to this promise. In this paper, we report the results of scenario analyses conducted to test the sensitivity analysis of the activity-based model Albatross.

Literature Review of Traffic Assignment: Static and Dynamic

Rapid urban growth is resulting into increase in travel demand and private vehicle ownership in urban areas. In the present scenario the existing infrastructure has failed to match the demand that leads to traffic congestion, vehicular pollution and accidents. With traffic congestion augmentation on the road, delay of commuters has increased and reliability of road network has decreased. Four s...

Advanced OR and AI Methods in Transportation INCORPORATING PARAMETRIC ACTION DECISION TREES IN COMPUTATIONAL PROCESS MODELS OF ACTIVITY-TRAVEL BEHAVIOR: THEORY AND ILLUSTRATION

As an alternative to utility-maximizing nested-logit models, Albatross uses decision trees to predict the activity-scheduling decisions of individuals and households. The decision trees are derived from activity-diary data and are able to account for discontinuous and non-linear effects of independent variables on choice variables. A potential disadvantage of rule-based models is that the sensi...

A Study of Demand Factors on Foreign Tourism in Iran

This article aims at identifying the factors involved in affecting the travel demand to Iran. The hypothesis of the research specifies the variable of “domestic social unrest and insecurity” as the most significant obstacle that stands against an expansion of the demand for travel to Iran. To test the above hypothesis, first several demand models that have been proposed to study demand for tour...
